Residing in the second oldest building in Albany, The Olde English Pub is a charming, relaxing, authentic old world pub. We are happy to give you a giant teacup filled with your choice of Heineken Beer or Strongbow Cider.
General Rules
- You must bring with you a valid drivers license or passport. A document without a photo can not be accepted.
- Per New York State SLA Rules, your birthday guests must spend $20 on food or beverages (equal to half of the value of the birthday drink) in order for us to be able to provide the birthday drink for free.
- Must be 21 (or older) years of age. All guests in your birthday party must be 21 (or older) years of age.
- The birthday special is only good on the business day of your birthday. We DO NOT honor the “clock striking midnight” rule. We do, however, honor your birthday AFTER midnight on the calendar date of your birthday.
- If you are unable to visit our restaurants on your actual birthday, you may make a request ahead of time, and we can try to arrange for a rain check. It is not guaranteed.
- There are no substitutions on Birthday Drinks. If you would like to substitute a different beer, or tequila or cider, there may be an additional charge.
- We reserve the right to refuse a guest who is clearly inebriated.
- You can visit any of the bars in any particular order.
- And finally… Happy Birthday! We offer our free birthday drinks to kind, patient, understanding guests. You are not GUARANTEED a free drink. You are not ENTITLED to a free drink. We are happy to give you this gift on your birthday, so long as you and your birthday party are respectful to our bartenders and our servers. Thank you!

Feel free to upgrade your 2.0 Liters of beer to any beer on our draft lines for the cost of 1.0 Liter of that beer. Some of our beers have a very strong ABV% so consider yourself warned.
